Artist KARL LAGASSE
Karl Lagasse, born on April 4, 1981, in Paris, is a French artist. He is the creator of the sculpture One Dollar and the trophy for the 43rd edition of the Deauville American Film Festival.

Artistic career
Karl Lagasse's career began in 1996 with the sale of his first work in Antwerp, when he was 15 years old.
A few years later, in 2003, he staged his first exhibition in Paris, where he displayed his works combining collage and painting, as Yvaral Vasarely[4], the son of the Hungarian visual artist Victor Vasarely, had suggested to him during their meeting in Paris in 1998.
He started sculpting in 2004 and found inspiration by watching Les Nuits Blanches. He then began the search for his style and started the series of 'Edifici,' totem works made from various materials. That same year, he left Paris to settle in Normandy.

In 2006, Isy Brachot (famous gallery in Brussels) dedicated an exhibition to him. Only one painting did not find a buyer. Karl Lagasse then offered it to an amateur who was unable to purchase it.
In 2008, he returns to Paris to exhibit at the Espace Pierre Cardin. Paintings, sculptures, and photographs are presented. A film about the creation of the works is also shown.
2009, the year of creation of one of the artist's most emblematic works, One Dollar. A piece born from his admiration for the United States but also symbolizing what can be achieved with just one dollar; 'Making art with 1 dollar'.

In 2010, he was chosen to represent the city of Deauville (Normandy) at the world equestrian championship 'Horsemania,' held in Lexington (United States), a twin city of the Normandy seaside resort, for which he created a sculpture.
After 'One Dollar', which was an international success, he presents another work that will also become emblematic, the 'Cryptogram One'. It is at the 2011 Art Monaco fair that the public discovers it.
To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, he created a 'Building' measuring 2.80 meters by 60 centimeters wide, made of concrete, wood, glass, and photographs in collaboration with Corbis, and displayed it at the Carlton Cinema Club. Artists present at the festival are invited to sign the piece and leave a message. This includes José Garcia, Michel Hazanavicius, Bérénice Bejo, Gad Elmaleh, as well as Cuba Gooding Jr., Tim Roth, Matthew McConaughey, and Zac Efron in particular.
