Description from the seller

Good condition.

Description:
This elegant black lacquer natsume features the themed design “Kōtaiji” (高苔寺), a reference to a temple known for its serene moss gardens and seasonal beauty. The lacquer surface has a smooth, lustrous black finish, highlighting the sophistication typical of high-quality tea ceremony utensils.
The decoration is executed in maki-e with warm gold tones and touches of red, depicting chrysanthemum blossoms (菊) and maple leaves (紅葉)—motifs closely associated with the refined, quiet atmosphere of a moss temple garden.
The combination of autumn maple and golden chrysanthemum evokes a sense of seasonal transition often appreciated in chanoyu aesthetics.
The natsume comes with its kiribako (桐箱), inscribed with the title 「高苔寺」 and bearing the maker’s signature 中村湖彩, along with a seal mark guaranteeing authenticity.
