Northwest Africa 16207 (NWA 16207) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2017 Jan Classification: Enstatite chondrite (EL6) History: Purchased in January 2017 by Jasper Spencer from a meteorite dealer in Morocco Petrography: This meteorite has a recrystallised texture with no obvious relict chondrules, and pervasive weathered veins. Major minerals are enstatite, an SiO2 phase, plagioclase, troilite and metal. Most opaques heavily weathered. Geochemistry: Mineral composition and geochemistry: All analyses by EPMA. Pyroxene: Fs0.6±0.4 En98.0±0.4 Wo1.4±0.1 (N=60). Plagioclase: Ab80.4±0.8 An15.2±0.3 Or4.3±0.6 (N=10). SiO2 phase: 98.3±0.5 wt% SiO2, 1.0±0.1% Al2O3, 0.5±0.1% FeO (N=10). Kamacite: 6.1±0.1% Ni, 0.4±0.0%Co, 1.1±0.1%Si (N=7). Troilite: 0.8±0.2 wt% Cr, 0.5±0.0 wt% Ti (N=58). Daubréelite: 35.0±0.4 wt% Cr, 17.1±0.5 wt% Fe, 2.5 ±0.4 wt% Mn (N=4) Classification: EL6 based on mineralogy and Si content of kamacite. Specimens: 252.717 g held at the NHM London. This meteorite comes with its original CoA.
