Description from the seller
Early 20th Century Neoclassical Régule Lamp - Putti Relief Decoration
A striking decorative piece from the early 20th century, this neoclassical-style lamp combines refined sculptural artistry with timeless elegance. Crafted in patinated régule (spelter), it features finely detailed bas-reliefs and rich classical motifs, transforming functional lighting into a true objet d'art.
The body of the lamp is adorned with a charming scene of playful putti in high relief, engaging in rustic activities with goats. The figures are beautifully sculpted, their rounded forms and lively expressions capturing movement and innocence. On each side, sculpted female heads emerge from the vessel, adding a further classical touch. The top section is encircled by a vine motif, while the base rests on a red marble plinth, lending weight and contrast to the piece.
Originating from France during the early 1900s, this lamp exemplifies the neoclassical revival period's devotion to Greco-Roman aesthetics. Likely cast in régule with a dark green-brown patina, the lamp has aged gracefully with some signs of wear, including a minor loss near the base (visible in photos).
Dimensions: Height 54 cm (21.3 in), Width 21 cm (8.3 in), Depth 14 cm (5.5 in).
A collectible item for lovers of antique lighting, classical sculpture, or interior decorators seeking a unique statement piece.
Note: Light socket and wiring appear intact but should be tested or replaced before use.
