Description from the seller
Claude Weisbuch (1927–2014) – Characters of the Commedia dell'Arte – Extremely rare HC edition 18/20
Description of the Work
Up for auction, a magnificent original lithograph by Claude Weisbuch, a French artist of international renown whose works are in the collections of MoMA in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
The work, created in France (Paris) between 1978 and 1980, belongs to the artist's celebrated exploration of dynamism and theater. It depicts two figures from the Commedia dell'Arte, reinterpreted with Weisbuch's iconic 'kinetic line': a tense, vibrant line that captures pure movement.
This special edition is of particular collectible value: it is an H.C. (Hors Commerce) specimen, i.e., "Out of Commerce", with an extremely low print run of only 20 copies. An absolute rarity compared to the common numbered editions in the hundreds.
