Description from the seller
Good conditon.
Description:
This tea cup set consists of two matching cups with a calm, rounded form and a quietly expressive surface. Each cup has a gently swelling body that narrows slightly toward the base, giving it a comfortable, natural feel in the hand. The rims are subtly irregular, not perfectly uniform, which reinforces the sense that these are hand-thrown pieces rather than rigidly finished objects.
The exterior glaze is deep and lustrous, ranging from dark brown to near-black, with a fine, speckled texture that resembles iron-rich glaze breaking through a glossy surface. In the light, the glaze reveals subtle variations, with tiny flecks and soft tonal shifts that add depth and movement. Near the rim, the glaze thins slightly, showing warmer brown and amber tones that frame the opening of each cup.
Inside, the cups are finished in a contrasting pale glaze, smooth and quiet, creating a gentle visual surprise when viewed from above. This light interior reflects the color of the tea and brightens the drinking experience, while also emphasizing the thickness and warmth of the ceramic walls. The transition between the dark exterior and light interior is soft and organic, rather than sharply defined.
The foot rings are neatly trimmed and left unglazed, exposing the light clay body beneath. This detail grounds the cups visually and physically, adding a tactile contrast when handled. Together, the pair feels cohesive and well balanced, suited for shared tea moments. The set conveys a sense of understated elegance, where texture, weight, and subtle glaze variation matter more than ornament, making these cups both practical and quietly contemplative.
