Neolithic Flint Tool – Chopping Tool / Heavy Scraper (No reserve price)

Large Prehistoric Flint Tool – Chopping Tool / Heavy Scraper Culture Prehistoric – Neolithic (Early) Dating circa 7000–4000 BC Description Large prehistoric flint tool knapped from a single block of flint, characterized by a robust morphology and multiple active edges. The object shows intentional bifacial flaking with large, invasive removals and clear functional edges, consistent with a chopping tool / heavy scraper rather than a polished axe. Such tools were commonly used for heavy-duty tasks, including butchering, hide processing, woodworking, and bone working. The absence of polishing and the irregular but controlled flaking exclude an axe or adze typology. Length: approx. 11 cm. Material: natural flint with well-developed archaeological patina. Condition Complete and intact. Surface shows ancient patina, minor edge wear and micro-chipping consistent with age and use. No restorations. Provenance Private collection of a French physician, formed before the 1970s.
