Description from the seller

This elegant Thonet Coat Rack Nr. 1, crafted in the early 1900s, exemplifies the iconic bentwood craftsmanship of the renowned Thonet brand. Standing at an impressive 203 cm in height, with a width and depth of 54 cm, it is fashioned from light brown stained beechwood and beech bentwood, finished with a polished sheen that accentuates the wood’s natural grain. The upper section features four flat, round applications arranged in a striking pyramidal shape, adding a touch of geometric sophistication to its graceful, minimalist design. Professionally restored to preserve its original charm, the coat rack shows subtle signs of age and use, enhancing its authentic character. Without a drip tray, it remains a functional yet sculptural piece, as documented in the Thonet Catalogue 1904, p. 80, making it a coveted collector’s item for enthusiasts of early 20th-century design.
