Description from the seller
Pair of wall sconces (2) Vintage Retro Modern Midcentury Honeycomb Beehive Jules Wabbes.
Design from the 1950s, around 1953. Mid-century Modern Modernist Modernism.
Very distinctive design. Baton lamps. 32 welded hexagonal tubes handmade concealing two bulbs. Bulb cover. Made of brass.
These iconic lamps were designed in 1953 for the entry hall of the Declercq house built by André Jacqmain and Jules Wabbes.
To be visible from below and above, Jules Wabbes designed a lamp composed of sections of welded hexagonal tubes, so that the light source (bulb) is filtered from both sides by the metal framework.
Similar wall sconces adorned the apartment of the King and Queen of Belgium on the Godetia, the Belgian Navy ship.
Some signs of wear but in very good condition.
In perfect working order.
E27 lamp holder. Porcelain connectors may have been replaced but the wiring may need to be brought up to current standards and should be checked to ensure safety.
