Description from the seller
Glazed ceramic sculpture lamp – 1940s/1950s
Evocative table lamp in glazed ceramic, shaped as a dynamic sculpture in which a stylized animal figure—a roe deer or gazelle—emerges with an elegant leap from a fluid movement of waves and swirls.
The form is typical of European decorative manufacturers from the 1940s to the early 1950s, with late Art Deco references and plastic lines almost like a “motion-sculpture.”
The body is made of solid ceramic, entirely coated with a deep glossy glaze, almost metallic, in petroleum-black tones, with moss green / turquoise reflections that emerge on the most protruding parts. The glossy surface enhances the play of light produced by the bulb hidden inside the hollow base.
The light source is located at the bottom, creating an internal lighting effect that makes the sculpture’s curves vibrate and emphasizes the animal’s volumes. The lampholder is made of black Bakelite, antique, fixed to the ceramic with the original nut and washers.
