Description from the seller
1930s Art Deco Inkwell with Borzoi Dog - Marble and Régule
This elegant Art Deco inkwell from the 1930s features a finely sculpted Borzoi dog in patinated régule, mounted on a richly veined marble base. A striking piece that beautifully captures the refinement and dynamism of the Art Deco era, it will appeal to collectors of period design and canine-themed decor.
Crafted in France during the early 20th century, the piece exemplifies the luxurious materials and stylized forms typical of the Art Deco movement. The Borzoi is depicted in mid-stride, its elongated form and flowing coat rendered with refined detail. The warm-toned marble base contrasts beautifully with the dark metal, enhancing the visual depth.
The inkwell measures 15 cm in height, 35 cm in length, and 7 cm in depth (5.91 x 13.78 x 2.76 in). It includes two original inkwell holders and remains functional as well as decorative.
Condition: The item is in good overall condition with minor, barely noticeable chips on the marble base—visible only upon close inspection and not detracting from its aesthetic appeal.
A fine example of Art Deco craftsmanship, this inkwell is both a collector’s item and a statement desk piece, ideal for lovers of vintage writing accessories or early 20th-century decorative arts.
