Ancient Greek Ceramic Skyphos. ca. 480–510 BC. 9.5 cm height.

Skyphos. Ancient Greek, Attic, ca. 480–510 BC. Ceramic. 9.5 cm height and 10 cm diameter. Condition: Good condition. Provenance: Private collection, Georges Savès. Description: Red pottery with black figures. Deep-bodied ceramic vessel with a flared rim, corresponding to the Attic skyphos type. Decorated using the black-figure technique, in which silhouettes were painted in black on a reddish clay background, completed with incised details and purple accents. The scene depicted in a continuous frieze shows human and animal figures in dynamic poses: armed warriors, possibly mythological heroes, and cattle, probably with a narrative background. The formal language is in full transition between late archaism and the beginning of the classical period, due to the fluidity of movement and the articulation of the scenes. This piece comes from the collection of Georges Savès (1908–1985), a French numismatist and collector with a deep vocation for archaeological study. Heir to a family tradition of collecting, he devoted himself fully from the 1950s onwards to historical and numismatic research, especially around Toulouse and Gallic coins. Throughout his life, he assembled an eclectic collection of archaeological, ethnographic and artistic pieces, which was enriched in 1966 with the acquisition of part of the Roger Bédiat collection. The author of specialised studies, his legacy remains a reference in the academic and heritage fields. Notes: - The piece includes authenticity certificate. - The piece includes Spanish Export License (Passport for European Union). NOT TAXES. - According to Spanish legislation, items sent outside the European Union are subject to export taxes and will be added to the invoice, at the buyer's expense. These export fees are fixed on the final auction price and the tax rate is not applied directly on the total value of the item to be exported, but rather the different percentages by sections are applied to it: - Up to 6,000 euros: 5%. - From 6.001 to 60.000 euros: 10%. This export permit application process can take between 1-2 months maximum. - The seller guarantees that he acquired this piece according to all national and international laws related to the ownership of cultural property.
