Two Dutch-language hardcover editions of Hooge troeven by Louis Couperus, published by Veen (first edition 1896 and second edition 1908), linen binding designed by H. P. Berlage, totaling 256 pages, with a facsimile of the first edition included.

Hooge troeven. Amsterdam, Veen, [1896]. Cloth binding (binding design by H.P. Berlage). (4), 124 p. 1st edition. Bookstore stamp and name on the front. Skewed reading, spine faded, front free endpaper pasted to the inside of the front cover.
* Of Couperus' Koningsromans this is the last—actually more of a novella. An Art Nouveau volume inspired by playing cards. Braches 960529. VV 166,1.
High trump cards. Amsterdam, Veen, [1908]. Linen (binding design by H.P. Berlage; same design as for the 1st edition, but in black and white on gray). (4), 124 p. 2nd edition. A previous owner wrote his or her name on the binding, on the flyleaf (large) and on the title page (with year 1914). Modern ex libris. Binding somewhat worn.
