Zeer mooi beeld in crèmekleur. Geen beschadigingen, enkel wat patine eigen aan de leeftijd van het beeld.

De tijdlijn van dit beeld en de kunstenaar Guelfi past perfect in de geschiedenis van de "Italo-Belgische gipskunst". Dit was een periode waarin religieuze kunst veranderde van unieke handgemaakte objecten naar kwalitatieve serieproductie voor de gewone burger.

1890 – 1910: De migratiegolf
De oorsprong: Veel ambachtslieden uit Lucca (Toscane) trekken naar België. Onder hen bevinden zich families als Carli en Guelfi.
Ze openen ateliers in Brussel (Schaarbeek) en de regio Luik. Ze brengen de techniek van het gieten van gipsen mallen mee die in Italië al eeuwen werd geperfectioneerd.

2. 1920 – 1940: De bloeitijd (Wanneer dit beeld is ontworpen) Dit is de meest waarschijnlijke periode waarin dit beeld is ontstaan. De strakke lijnen van de sluier van de Madonna en de geometrische rust in het ontwerp zijn kenmerkend voor de Art Deco-stijl uit de jaren '20 en '30.
