Description from the seller
Title: Still Life in Green
School: Spanish School (20th century)
Style: modern still life with post-Impressionist influences
Technique: oil on canvas
The work presents a carefully composed still life dominated by a chromatic range of greens, ochers, and blueish tones, which unifies the scene and gives it an intimate and reflective atmosphere. In the foreground there is a table on which several open books rest, treated with loose, gestural brushstrokes that suggest volumes rather than defining them with academic precision. In the center stands a glass object—possibly a bottle or container—whose transparency and reflections are resolved through impasto and glazes, creating plays of light and depth.
The background hints at an interior space with pictures hanging on the wall, reinforcing the sense of a domestic, everyday scene. The brushwork is free and expressive, typical of twentieth-century Spanish painting, where subjective interpretation of the subject prevails over meticulous detail. The overall composition conveys balance and a clear atmospheric intention, placing color at the core of the pictorial discourse.
The frame is a wooden frame with a wide profile, finished in a dark tone with a slight shine. Its sober, classic design appropriately frames the composition, adding presence and contrast to the canvas's greenish palette. The frame is in good overall condition, in line with its decorative and protective function.
Remarks:
The frame comes as a gift. It may be damaged during transport even if it is properly packaged.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by an additional charge due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excess measurements, or weight of the item. Under no circumstances will PremiArt cover this additional charge.
