Esta imponente figura tallada en madera de nogal del siglo XX representa a la musa del teatro, probablemente Melpómene o Talía, según la expresión y el gesto que adopta. Con una altura superior a los 70 cm, se trata de una escultura de gran presencia, concebida para ocupar un lugar destacado en salones, bibliotecas o espacios dedicados a las artes.

La talla revela una ejecución minuciosa, propia de la escultura decorativa decimonónica, con especial atención al movimiento de los ropajes, la postura elegante y los detalles faciales. El nogal, madera noble y de grano fino, aporta profundidad y calidez a la pieza, además de permitir un acabado detallado que resalta las curvas y texturas del modelado.

En torno a la cintura, se aprecia un elemento singular: una segunda máscara o rostro tallado entre los pliegues del vestido, posiblemente una alusión directa al teatro clásico, donde las máscaras simbolizan la dualidad entre comedia y tragedia. Este detalle añade una dimensión simbólica y artística que enriquece la lectura de la obra.

Debido a su antigüedad, la figura presenta pequeñas faltas o restauraciones, comunes en piezas de este tipo, que no afectan su valor histórico ni estético. Más allá de su función decorativa, esta escultura encarna el espíritu del arte teatral y la tradición escultórica europea, siendo testimonio de una época en la que las musas eran fuente de inspiración tangible en el mobiliario y la ornamentación culta.
