AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pile: % Wool
Weft & Warp: 100% Cotton
Quality: Hand-knotted
Knot density: approx. 160,000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan

The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) come from a nomadic ethnic group from the Beluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production, and sheep, goat, and camel herding. Traditionally, the carpets are made from sheep wool or goat hair from the tribes’ own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the carpets are usually smaller due to the high transport requirements, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown, or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with vibrant patterns in white, ivory, yellow, or orange tones. Baluch carpets are comparatively thin, yet rather densely woven, making them soft and flexible—perfect for daily use and a lot of movement. Even today these carpets offer an excellent price-performance ratio and superb durability.
