AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pile: % Wool
Weft & Warp: 100% Cotton
Quality: Hand-knotted
Knot density: approx. 160,000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan

The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) come from a nomadic ethnic group from the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, rug production, and sheep, goat, and camel husbandry. Traditionally the carpets are made from sheep's wool or goat hair from the tribes’ own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the carpets are typically smaller due to high transport needs, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. Classic dark-red, brown, or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow, or orange tones. Baluch carpets are comparatively thin, but rather densely woven, which makes them soft and flexible—perfect for daily use and a lot of movement. Even today these carpets still offer excellent value for money as well as outstanding durability.
