AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pile: % Wool
Weft & Warp: 100 % cotton
Quality: Hand-knotted
Knot count: approx. 160,000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan

The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) stem from a nomadic people in the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production as well as sheep, goat and camel husbandry. Traditionally the carpets are made from sheep wool or goat hair from the tribes’ own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the carpets are generally smaller because of the high transport demand, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with vivid patterns in white, ivory, yellow or orange tones. Baluch carpets are relatively thin, yet quite densely woven, making them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and a lot of movement. Even today these carpets still offer an excellent price-performance ratio as well as outstanding durability.
