Description from the seller
Pile: % Wool
Warp & Weft: 100% cotton
Quality: hand-knotted
Knot density: approx. 160,000 per m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan
The Baluch carpets (also Beluchi) come from a nomadic people of the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production, and sheep, goat, and camel herding. Traditionally the carpets are made from sheep’s wool or goat hair from the tribes’ own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the carpets are typically smaller, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown, or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow, or orange tones. Baluch carpets are relatively thin, yet quite densely woven, which makes them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and with a lot of foot traffic. Even today these carpets still offer excellent value for money as well as outstanding durability.
