Description from the seller
Pile: % Wool
Weft & Warp: 100% cotton
Quality: Hand-knotted
Knot count: approx. 160,000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan
The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) come from a nomadic people from the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production as well as sheep, goat and camel breeding. Traditionally, the carpets are made of sheep wool or goat hair from the tribes' own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the carpets are typically smaller because of the high transport requirements, feature geometric patterns or stylized flower motifs and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow or orange tones. Baluch carpets are relatively thin, but densely woven, which makes them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and a lot of movement. Even today these carpets still offer an excellent price–performance ratio as well as outstanding durability.
