AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pile: % Wool
Weft & Warp: 100% Cotton
Quality: Hand-knotted
Knot count: approx. 160,000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan

The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) originate from a nomadic ethnic group from the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production, as well as sheep, goat, and camel breeding. Traditionally the carpets are made from sheep wool or goat hair from the tribes’ own flocks. Due to their tribal origin the carpets are generally small because of the high transport requirements, they feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown, or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow, or orange tones. Baluch carpets are relatively thin, yet rather densely woven, which makes them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and a lot of movement. Even today these carpets still offer an excellent price–performance ratio and outstanding durability.
