AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pile: % Wool
Weft & Warp: 100% cotton
Quality: Hand-knotted
Knot count: approx. 160,000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan

The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) originate from a nomadic ethnic group from the Beluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production, as well as sheep-, goat-, and camel-herding. Traditionally, the carpets are made from sheep wool or goats’ hair from the tribes’ own herds. Because of their tribal origin, the carpets are usually smaller due to the high transport needs, have geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown, or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow, or orange tones. Baluch carpets are comparatively thin, but rather densely woven, making them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and a lot of movement. Even today these carpets still offer excellent price-performance value as well as outstanding durability.
