AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pile: % Wool
Warp & weft: 100% cotton
Quality: Hand-knotted
Knot count: ca. 160,000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan

The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) come from a nomadic ethnic group in the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production, and sheep, goat, and camel husbandry. Traditionally, the carpets are made from sheep wool or goat hair from the tribes’ own flocks. Because of their tribal origin, the carpets are usually smaller due to high transport needs, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown, or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow, or orange tones. Baluch carpets are comparatively thin, but rather densely woven, making them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and with a lot of movement. Even today these carpets still offer an excellent price-performance ratio and excellent durability.
