AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pile: % Wool
Schuß & Kette: 100 % Baumwolle
Quality: hand-knotted
Knotenzahl: ca. 160.000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Afghanistan

The Baluch carpets (also Belutsch) come from a nomadic people in the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from farming, rug production, as well as sheep, goat, and camel breeding. Traditionally, the carpets are made from sheep wool or goat hair from the tribes’ own herds. Due to their tribal origin, the carpets are usually compact because of the high transport requirements, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. The classic dark red, brown, or blue backgrounds are often contrasted with lively patterns in white, ivory, yellow, or orange tones. Baluch carpets are comparatively thin, but rather densely woven, which makes them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and a lot of movement. Even today these carpets offer an excellent price–performance ratio as well as superb durability.
