The Baluch carpets (also Beluchi) come from a nomadic ethnic group in the Baluchistan region, a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They live from agriculture, carpet production, and sheep, goat, and camel husbandry. Traditionally, the carpets are made from sheep wool or goat hair from the tribes’ own herds. Because of their tribal origin, the carpets are usually smaller due to the high transportation needs, feature geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs, and are hand-knotted. Baluch carpets are relatively thin, but rather densely woven, making them soft and flexible. Perfect for daily use and with a lot of movement.
