Description from the seller
St. Florian – Bronze Relief Sculpture on Wooden Panel
A finely executed bronze relief depicting Saint Florian, the Roman military officer and Christian martyr, traditionally regarded as the protector against fire and floods and a patron saint of firefighters.
The figure is cast in solid patinated bronze, showing a high level of craftsmanship and detail. Saint Florian is portrayed in Roman military attire, holding a flag and pouring water from a vessel over a burning house — a classic and symbolic iconography associated with him. The facial expression, armor details, drapery, and architectural elements are carefully rendered, giving the piece strong visual depth and presence.
The bronze figure is mounted on a hand-carved wooden panel with a radiating background, enhancing the sculptural composition and devotional character of the work.
Material: solid patinated bronze
Base: carved wood
Total dimensions (wooden panel): approx. 60 × 26 cm
Weight: approx. 3 kg
Condition: good vintage condition with natural patina and minor signs of age consistent with time
Period: likely 20th century
Style: traditional religious / historicist sculpture
A striking devotional and decorative piece, suitable for collectors of religious art, bronze sculpture, or Central European Christian iconography.
