Up for auction is a fascinating piece of Soviet optical history: the FED Stereo. Produced in the Ukraine by the FED factory starting in the late 1980s, this is a specialized 35mm camera designed for 3D photography.
The camera features a distinctive dual-lens design, capturing two slightly offset images simultaneously on standard 35mm film. It is highly regarded for its robust, heavy build and is considered one of the more sophisticated stereo cameras produced in the Eastern Bloc. The camera operates with an automatic exposure system, making it relatively accessible for hobbyists interested in the world of stereoscopy.
