Description from the seller
Author: Antonio Amodeo García (1928-2012), a Spanish painter born in Seville, whose work is mainly characterized by Andalusian costumbrism and figurative realism.
Profile and Style:
Theme: Their work stands out mainly for bullfighting scenes, portraits of matadors, and episodes from the bullfight. They also produced still lifes and seascapes.
Their style is framed within a realist tradition with a strong emphasis on detail and Sevillian popular culture.
Notable Works:
Among the works documented in catalogs and auctions are:
.Bullfighting Portraits: The portrait of the matador Juan León y López "Leoncillo" stands out.
.Scenes of Lidia: paintings such as "Banderillero. Suerte de la silla" or two-sided paintings that show complete scenes of bullfights.
. Still Lifes: Still lifes with vessels and fruits that demonstrate their mastery of classical composition.
Market and Brand Recognition
Their works are typically found in contemporary art auction houses and galleries specialized in Spanish painting. It is common to see their paintings on collecting platforms such as Todocolección or in Artprice valuations.
It is a very apt composition, giving rise to a universal image. The saturation of the background lends it a strong color suggestion; the background becomes an abstract element without losing the spatial sense of the classic background–figure relationship. The size of the elements relative to the whole is very well calculated. Its compositional proportions are of great beauty. Whether by craft or by intuition (which sometimes is the same when the painter has it), this painting by Amodeo is of great originality and harmony.
Technique: Oil on táblex.
Title of the work: "Suerte de picadores".
Dimensions: 71 x 60 cm (unframed); 81 x 70.5 x 3.5 cm with frame.
Signed: "A. Amodeo".
Condition: In excellent condition.
The frame is shipped as a gift, so any damage occurring during transport will not be compensated. Customs charges, if import duties are required, will be the buyer's responsibility.
