Antique medical hip bath in a wooden case – sanatorium furniture – circa 1880–1900
Original medical sitz bath furniture (hip bath / sitz bath tub) from the late Belle Époque period, made around 1880–1900.
Such furniture was used in sanatoriums, spa resorts, and doctor's offices for therapeutic sitting and herbal baths, and was considered an important part of the natural healing and hydrotherapy medicine of the 19th century.
Original medical Sitzbäder of this kind are now extremely rare. They are sought after by:
