Cavalca - Libro Chiamato Spechio di Croce - 1539

Very rare Milanese edition of this famous text written in 1333 by the Dominican friar Domenico Cavalca (1270-1342), where the sufferings of the Passion of Christ serve as the apologetic pretext to exhort virtue and the mercy of faith.

The title page is missing, but it is definitely this edition as evidenced by the colophon.

Seventeenth-century binding in full parchment with handwritten title on the spine, very well preserved. White flyleaves. Blue edges.
