Description from the seller
The Ardbeg Almost There Limited Edition is a superb single malt whisky and the third release in the series. Distilled in 1998, this limited edition Ardbeg bottling was released in 2007. The whisky is neither colored nor chill-filtered and is bottled at cask strength (54.1% ABV).
In 1997, Glenmorangie bought Ardbeg from Allied Distillers and invested heavily in renovating the distillery, which had been closed for so many years, to produce the whisky that many critics consider the best in the world.
This bottling contains the first distillates produced after the 1997 reopening. Only first-fill casks were used.
The whisky was bottled at the tender age of nine years.
With this whisky, Ardbeg aims to recapture the distillery's glory days, when its whisky was richer and more complex than any other, and above all, so peaty that a spoon would stick in it!
The taste and aroma are typical Ardbeg – smoky, iodine-rich, peaty, and salty.
