Pair of oak chairs in antique Gothic style, dating to 1850–1900, from Lyon, France, in good condition with age-related wear and stains, each with richly carved backs and turned stretchers, dimensions 114 cm high by 40 cm wide by 42 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Pair of chairs from the entrance of an important bourgeois mansion in Lyon, built in 1883 (approximately 600 m² of living space).
Parade furniture in carved oak, Neo-Renaissance style, late 19th century.
Backrests richly pierced, pedestals with turned spindles.
Dimensions: H 114 cm x L 40 cm x P 42 cm.
Backrests with pierced panels adorned with rosettes and scrolls, a sturdy base with decorative crosspieces.
Sold as is, to be restored (sound wood, oak or walnut; old insect damage; original patina).
Very decorative, perfect for a characterful interior, a country house, medieval decor, or an old-fashioned bistro.
Files to restore:
– A chair has a missing sculpted element at the top of the backrest.
– The other has been the subject of an old collage to be resumed.
Restoration possible by a cabinetmaker or a seasoned amateur.
