Attractive illustrated edition of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's tragic play Faust. Translated by Abraham Hayward, and beautifully illustrated with 16 colour plates including frontispiece by the celebrated Hungarian-American illustrator Willy Pogany (This popular edition, often translated by Abraham Hayward, showcased Pogany's Art Nouveau style with mythical creatures, making it a highly sought-after art book).
Published by Hutchinson & Co., London, 1908. Publishers’ original red boards, with design on upper cover, and black lettering to spine.
Book Dimensions: 25 x 16 x 4 cm and Number of Pages: 210
Condition:
Firm and well-bound copy. External covers are faded and with light wear to corners, and spine ends. Internally; the book is in very good condition indeed. No names or inscriptions. Pages are clean with light foxing to the margin of some pages. All pages are tightly held at the gutter. Inner hinges are very good. All colour plates are present and in excellent condition (Please see pictures).
