Description from the seller
Le Bertetti ceramic sculpture, hand-painted, surely by Clelia Le Bertetti (given the signature and numbering); the LeB mark is Clelia's first trademark.
Excellent conditions
a bit of history:
Clelia BERTETTI in 1932, after leaving her job at the ceramic manufacturer "Lenci", which lasted about five years and where she also headed the retouching department, opens, at 16 Via Alpignano in Turin, the artistic ceramics workshop named "LE BERTETTI", assisted by Piero Ducato. The manufacturer, whose first mark consists of the letters LeB, is devoted to mass production of objects of good quality and notable grace, in earthenware and terracotta, often made by slip-casting, very close in taste to that of the "Lenci". From the manufacturer’s laboratories also comes an interesting number of fine unique pieces, often produced by Clelia Bertetti herself. In 1942 Clelia Bertetti abandons the artistic direction of the manufacturer, which is sold to third parties who continue production for over ten years under the same name, and leaves artisanal activity to devote herself to sculpture. The works from the manufacturer often bear a production number, and the ceramics whose number is less than 100 are generally attributable to the founder of the firm.
