Description from the seller

Description: In an auction, a classic example of Italian mid-20th-century functionalist furniture. This 'ministerial' desk is a solid piece with great character, typical of postwar public or administrative offices, where sturdiness was the construction priority.

Features and Materials:

Body: Structure in veneered wood in a light wood species with warm honey tones. The construction is typical of the era, geared toward industrial durability.

The original top is covered in black faux leather (replaced as part of restoration work), an iconic material of the period. The top is edged by a sturdy wooden frame with rounded corners.

Archiving: Double-column side with 8 drawers in total. The drawers feature solid metal knobs with a minimalist design.

Base: Double pedestal base in matte black-lacquered wood, which gives the desk its characteristic imposing silhouette of the era.

Condition Report (Actual condition analysis): The object is preserved in its original state and shows a visible patina that confirms its age (an oiling was applied):

Faux leather piano: New

Signs of use: There is a dark vertical stain on the front of the central compartment (probably ink or age wear) and several small scratches on the wooden surface.

Base: The black skirting board shows paint chipping and scratches due to use and the cleaning of the floors over the years.

Interiors: The drawers are made of solid light wood (fir/poplar); they are intact and slide smoothly.
