Description from the seller
Mercedes-Benz 380 SL
GENERAL
Since its introduction in 1971, the R107 series has earned an iconic status within the world of luxury classics. As the successor to the legendary Pagode, the R107 combined timeless design with improved safety, comfort and performance. To this day, this model is known for its solid build quality and elegant appearance.
This 1985 Mercedes 380 SL, now 41 years old, is a beautiful example with a rich history. The car is supplied with all original booklets and a clean Carfax report.
BODYWORK & PAINT
This is a Washington-import and the body is fully rust-free. The paint presents very nicely for its age and the underside is in exceptionally clean, dry condition.
What is special about this example is that it is an original European spec, with euro chrome bumpers and European headlights. The car was delivered in Europe at the time and later exported to the United States. The chrome bumpers are in decent condition, although there are a few small signs of aging visible.
The car is supplied with both a hardtop and an older but still good soft top.
INTERIOR
The interior is fully green and in neat condition. The dashboard is intact without cracks, the seats are neat, the carpet is nice and the walnut wood inlays give the interior a warm, classic look.
The car is supplied with all booklets and the original on-board toolkit. The spare wheel remains unused in the trunk.
MECHANICAL
Technically, a lot has been refreshed and the fuel system has been cleaned. The engine runs excellently and the car rides and shifts as it should. Both under the hood and in the trunk this Mercedes leaves a very well-maintained impression.
In recent years the car stood relatively unused with its previous owner, an about 80-year-old lady in Washington, who had owned the car for many years. As with any classic, there can always be small points for improvement.
DOCUMENTS
All import and VAT costs have been paid. The car is supplied with an American title. This means the car is currently not tested/inspected and not yet road-legal.
Due to age, no COC document is required for registration within Europe (this only applies from 1996).
COLLECTION
The car can be viewed and potentially collected in Damwoude, Netherlands. Transportation throughout Europe can be arranged upon agreement.
OTHER INFORMATION
We strive to describe our vehicles as honestly and correctly as possible. However, it remains a used classic, so signs of use or points of attention can never be fully ruled out. If in doubt, we recommend you view the car in person for a proper impression.
A stylish European 380 SL with character, history and a timeless look – ready for a new enthusiast.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
