Description from the seller
Dimensions: 77 x 62 cm
Dimensions with frame: 79 x 64 cm
William Tillyer (born 25 September 1938) is a British artist working within the traditions of painting, watercolour and printmaking. His approach is continually evolving: classical subjects such as landscapes, still lifes and portraits are repeatedly redefined and interpreted by him, in ways that question historical traditions and vary from work to work.
Since the 1950s, Tillyer has exhibited internationally. His work is included in the collections of leading institutions, including the Arts Council of Great Britain, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Tate Britain and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The Tate collection includes at least fifteen works by Tillyer, including High Force (1974).
Viewing of the lot is always possible. All contact information can be found on our own website. Art Dumay has an in-house framing workshop with almost 100 years of experience. If you are interested, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.
