Rare French Art Nouveau ceramic vase with metal mounting, circa 1900–1910

Elegant, slenderly proportioned ceramic vase from France, formed in the height of the Art Nouveau era. The language of form and the decorative elaboration strikingly reflect the spirit of the Art Nouveau period, in which natural motifs, flowing lines, and artisanal refinement were at the center.

The finely glazed body shows an extraordinary play of colors: warm yellows gracefully transition into orange and red, coalescing into browns and ending in deep, dark nuances. This changing glaze lends the vase a special depth and liveliness.

The artfully crafted metal mount is lightly bronzed and follows the organic lines of the vessel. Curved supports and floral ornaments with stylized flowers and tendrils echo typical motifs of Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) and emphasize the decorative character of the object.

The object comes from the work of Eugène Baudin and is attributed to French Art Pottery of the early 20th century. Baudin was especially known for his ceramic works with ornate metal mountings, which emerged around 1900. Characteristic of his oeuvre is the combination of high-quality ceramics with decorative metal settings, as exemplified by this piece.
