Description from the seller
Ajax 12 (F-21T), Soviet KGB subminiature spy camera; very good condition.
Description
I sell a Ajax 12 (F-21T) Soviet KGB SubMiniature Spy Camera. Subminiature cameras are those which use original film formats smaller than 35mm. The Ajax 12 (F-21T) is using 21mm non perforation film. The camera has a wind-up spring motor and a high quality fixed-focus lens with an adjustable aperture and leaf shutter with four settings.
USSR 1952 – Spy Camera – 21 mm – Rare.
The KMZ Ajax-12 stands as a subminiature espionage camera meticulously crafted for the Soviet Union’s intelligence agency, the KGB.
The Ajax integrates a clockwork mechanism powered by a spring, enabling operatives to capture a sequence of images without requiring manual film rewinding. Frequently employed for undercover photography, the camera was adept at remaining concealed within or behind other objects, while its robust construction ensured durability and film protection even under adverse conditions.
A civilian iteration of the camera emerged in 1989, known as the Zenith MF1, expanding the reach of this unique and covert photographic technology beyond its original espionage context.
The Subminiature Camera was named Ajax-12, the original name of the 'F-21T'. There is still an overexposed film roll inside, due to opening the camera. It was introduced in 1952–53 and is in very good condition.
