Iconic 1980s Italian design wall lamp Sistema Flu by Rodolfo Bonetto for Lucitalia, featuring two independent tubular arms that rotate from a central ABS body for versatile wall or tabletop lighting, in good condition with minor signs of age, dimensions approximately height 50–60 cm, arm length ~65 cm, base width ~24–26 cm, depth ~10 cm.
Description from the seller
Up for auction is an icon of 1980s Italian design: the famous lamp "Sistema Flu", designed by master Rodolfo Bonetto in 1981 and produced by Luci Illuminazione d'Interni (Milan). This object perfectly represents the synthesis between technical functionality and the sculptural aesthetics typical of Bonetto's work (famous for his projects for Olivetti and Fiat).
The lamp is primarily designed as a wall-mounted sconce, but thanks to its balanced geometry it can also be used as a scenographic table lamp.
The two independent tubular arms are its distinctive feature: they can rotate freely from the central body, allowing the lamp to be configured in infinite positions (in a 'V', parallel, asymmetric) and to direct the light beam exactly where it's needed.
The central body, characterized by a bellows-like design (or lamellar) in black ABS, is not only a distinctive aesthetic element, but serves as a robust and durable technical joint.
Approximate measurements
• Arm height: about 50-60 cm (depending on the tilt).
• Length of one arm: about 65 cm.
• Base width: about 24-26 cm.
• Depth: about 10 cm.
