Description from the seller
Set of two glass catchalls (or decorative sculptures) in iridescent violet-pink tinted blown glass, signed Val Saint Lambert (Belgium), mid-century modern style (1950s–1970s).
Typical abstract organic forms from Val Saint Lambert: fluid, twisted, and asymmetrical lines, with a swirl effect (internal whirlpools) and iridescent reflections within the mass, a slightly flattened base for stability.
Details of the parts:
- The largest: height 9 cm – maximum width 25 cm – weight 1100 g
Visible traces of calcium carbonate (light whitish deposits that affect the shine, normal for old glass exposed to humidity or poorly cleaned, with no impact on the structure).
- The smallest: height 5 cm – maximum width 17 cm – weight 1000 g
Shows several small surface scratches (micro-scratches from use, visible under raking light but without gloss or cracks).
Condition: generally good for both pieces. Glass free of chips, cracks, or repairs. Signatures “Val Saint Lambert” visible on each piece. Traces of limescale and scratches are noted for transparency, but do not affect the overall beauty or artistic value.
Elegant and characteristic decorative pieces from Val Saint Lambert produced in the 1950s–1970s, ideal for collectors of colorful mid-century Belgian glass or for refined contemporary decor (trinket tray, sculpture or tabletop object).
Provenance: Belgian private collection.
