Paesaggio, an oil on canvas mounted on panel, from 1950–1960, in a post-impressionist Italian rural landscape style, signed, original edition, in good condition, 26 × 32 cm, sold with frame, provenance private collection Palermo.
Description from the seller
Oil on canvas mounted on a wooden support, depicting an evocative scene of rural life with figures in the fields, haystacks, rural houses, and a hilly/mountain landscape in the background.
The work, of an intimate format (18 × 24 cm), is characterized by a free and tactile brushstroke, a warm and earthy palette, and a lyrical approach typical of Italian naturalist painting of the early twentieth century. The composition recalls the post-Impressionist milieu and the tradition of the rural landscape, with particular attention to atmosphere and daily life.
At the bottom there is a partially erased signature, not fully legible, which to the naked eye may resemble the surname Zaroli; the work is therefore presented as attributed to / within the circle of an Italian painter of the early 20th century, without a definite attribution.
The support (canvas mounted on panel) and the contemporaneous gilded frame are consistent with the painting practice of the period.
Provenance: private collection, Palermo.
Authentic period artwork, ideal for collectors of 20th-century Italian painting and for classic-style interior decoration.
Total dimensions 32 x 25 x 2.5 cm
