Description from the seller

Rare reliquary frame in ebonized wood with convex blown glass – 19th century, Napoleon III style

A fascinating and refined reliquary frame dating from the 19th century, attributable to the decorative taste of the Napoleon III era, characterized by a strong visual impact and high-quality craftsmanship.
The structure is made of ebonized wood, with a deep dark surface and authentic patina, enhanced by finely molded angular ornamental fittings, presumably original bronze, featuring elegant phytomorphic motifs typical of the mid-nineteenth century. The decorations appear coherent in style, alloying (casting) and wear, confirming the originality of the whole.
The front features a magnificent convex blown glass piece, full of charm and quality, perfectly stable and well set within its frame. The bulging gives depth and movement, making the object ideal as a display frame for miniatures, relics, portraits, or collectible items.
The back is upholstered in velvet, in excellent condition, clean and well preserved, with the original suspension system. The piece presents as solid, well-balanced, and ready to use—a quality nowadays increasingly rare for objects of this kind.
A decorative object of great elegance, rare to find in such complete and authentic condition, perfect for classic interiors, antique collections, or formal settings.

Dimensions:
Frame: 43.5 × 34.5 cm
Internal glass light: 31.5 × 23.5 cm
Condition: Excellent overall condition. Normal and consistent signs of aging, original patina well preserved. Glass intact, stable and clean. Solid structure.
