Description from the seller
Architectural Landscapes
signed, Takashi Homma
Gallery White Room Tokyo/180*255*30
Architectural Landscapes, a collection of works by Takashi Homma, one of Japan's leading photographers. This catalog was published for his solo exhibition held in 2007 at Gallery White Room in Ginza, curated by Yasunori Houki of Super Lab. The following is an excerpt from the text by architect Yoshiharu Tsukamoto of Atelier Bow-Wow: "In Takashi Homma's ‘Architectural Landscapes,’ the coercive force inherent in architectural photography as a device is absent. It feels as if architecture has been liberated from the subjectivity of its planners and designers, permitted to simply lie there as part of the environment. Once architecture's position as the subject is emptied in this way, one sees how various objects and events, neighboring buildings, views from the site, daily life, plants, and even models crowd together, creating a unique landscape for each building. Architecture thus becomes an opening onto the world. (Excerpt) Architecture as landscape aptly describes the future direction of architectural creation, and conscious architects are beginning to engage with this issue." Includes illustrations featuring motifs from Le Corbusier, Eero Aalto, and Jørn Utzon. Accompanied by supplementary text.
