Coppia di sedie Thonet – Vienna, fine XIX / inizi XX secolo

Elegante coppia di sedie originali Thonet, realizzate secondo la celebre tecnica del legno curvato a vapore, brevetto che rese la manifattura Thonet una delle più importanti case di produzione di arredi tra la fine dell’Ottocento e i primi decenni del Novecento.

Le sedie presentano la classica struttura in faggio curvato, con schienale a doppia ansa continua, elemento iconico del linguaggio formale Thonet, progettato per unire leggerezza visiva, solidità strutturale ed eleganza senza tempo.
La seduta è in paglia di Vienna intrecciata a mano, originale dell’epoca, con trama regolare, inserita in anello ligneo.

Marchio e autenticità

Entrambe le sedie sono marchiate “THONET WIEN”, visibile sotto la seduta su etichetta originale, riconducibile alla casa Thonet di Vienna.
Il marchio conferma la produzione storica e l’autenticità.

Epoca

Fine XIX secolo / primi anni del XX secolo (circa 1890–1910), periodo in cui le sedie Thonet erano ampiamente utilizzate nei caffè viennesi, bistrot e ambienti borghesi europei.

Pair of Thonet chairs – Vienna, late 19th / early 20th century

Elegant pair of original Thonet chairs, crafted using the renowned steam-bent wood technique, a patented process that established Thonet as one of the most influential furniture manufacturers between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The chairs feature the classic bent beechwood structure, with a continuous double-loop backrest, an iconic Thonet design combining visual lightness, structural strength, and timeless elegance.
The seats are made of hand-woven Vienna cane, original to the period, set within a wooden frame.

Mark and authenticity

Both chairs are marked “THONET WIEN”, visible beneath the seat on the original label, attributable to the Thonet factory in Vienna.
The mark confirms historical production and authenticity.

Period

Late 19th century / early 20th century (circa 1890–1910), when Thonet chairs were widely used in Viennese cafés, bistros, and bourgeois interiors throughout Europe.
