despite the name "500" suggesting a maximum shutter speed of 1/500s, it's a "Pulcinella's secret" among enthusiasts that this camera is actually equipped with the same shutter as the SP1000: by turning the shutter speed dial beyond 500, in an unmarked position, you almost always get a perfectly functioning 1/1000s. it uses the widespread M42 screw mount (universal thread), making it compatible with an infinity of high-quality vintage lenses (Takumar, Zeiss Jena, Pentacon, etc.). equipped with TTL stop-down needle metering (match-needle), powered by a button-cell battery (originally mercury PX400, today replaceable with adapters or Wein cell batteries). an excellent choice for students or purists of analog photography who seek an essential and indestructible camera. included only the Pentax SP500 body as shown in the images
