Hanns Diehl (1877–1946) was an Austrian painter associated with early 20th-century Symbolism and landscape painting. He was a founding member of the Vienna Künstlerbund, an influential artists’ association that played an important role in the development of modern art in Austria. Diehl was closely connected to the artistic circle around Giovanni Segantini, whose ideas on atmosphere, spirituality and landscape had a lasting influence on his work.
His paintings are known for their quiet, introspective character, subtle symbolism and strong sense of mood. Works by Hanns Diehl are today highly sought after by collectors and institutions, and are represented in both private and public collections.
