Description from the seller

Elegant theatrical manifesto dedicated to Cora Madou, depicted in a sophisticated and melancholic pose, with a long minimalist dress and a cigarette between her fingers, immersed in a nocturnal, highly evocative atmosphere.

The image is built on a refined chromatic balance, dominated by deep blue tones and warm highlights on the face, typical of French graphic design from the 1920s to the 1930s.

Note: this is probably a later edition from the seventies.

Dimensions: 66 x 45 cm

The poster clearly adopts the visual language of Parisian Art Deco, with a slender, stylized yet expressive female figure, rendered through soft shading and a theatrical use of light.

The graphic design and painterly treatment hark back to the milieu of the great French cabarets and theatres, with evident affinities to the style of Paul Colin, one of the absolute masters of the theatrical poster of the era.

Printed on uncoated paper, the poster shows signs of aging consistent with its age: slight waviness, marginal yellowing, and small superficial imperfections that confirm its decorative nature and its authenticity as a vintage item.

An excellent collectible for fans of French advertising graphics, theatre, cabaret, and Art Deco, and also ideal for a characterful interior.
