Salvador Dalí, born on May 11, 1904 in Figueres,
Spanje was a Spanish surrealist painter and printmaker, known for his explorations of subconscious images. He studied art in Madrid and Barcelona, and demonstrated an unusual technical proficiency as a painter. His mature artistic style developed in the late 1920s after discovering Sigmund Freud's writings on the erotic meaning of subconscious images and associating with the Parisian surrealists.
Dalí's painting style developed rapidly from 1929 to
1937, through which he produced paintings that made him the most famous Surrealist artist in the world.
As for the value of his works, Dalí's
Paintings perform well at auctions. According to Mei Moses of the famous auction house, the average compound annual return for Salvador Dalí that was resold at auctions between 2003 and 2017 was 7.3%. An impressive 88.2% of the 153 works increased in value.
